Evan Wakefield – General Manager
Evan Wakefield – Operations Consultant for Ground Masters

Evan became General Manager of Ground Masters in 2020.  He had been Ground Masters’ Operations Manager since the company’s inception in 2004, responsible for oversight of several of our largest Civil Construction projects, including the NBN Satellite Station Binduli.  Before joining Ground Masters he had acquired broad practical trucking knowledge, an MC license, and comprehensive earthmoving skills including grader operations.  This substantial bank of experience gained elsewhere enabled him to visualise a bright future in the region for the family business and he became and remains a driving force behind its growth and its ever broadening scope of works.

Robert (Bob) Wakefield – Managing Director of Ground Masters

Bob began his working life in the Western Australian electrical industry, culminating in an appointment as a State Manager. Subsequently he and his growing family moved from Perth to the South West and for a time, owned and operated a roadhouse. However it was a latter role with the Shire of Nannup, where he gained a grounding in truck driving, plant operation and earthmoving, that eventually led him to Kalgoorlie-Boulder, the place he still thinks of as the best in the country. In 1987 Bob moved the family to the Goldfields and based on his Nannup experience he began, with a truck and a loader, working in the mining exploration and construction industries. Over the next twenty years he acquired the extensive knowledge and experience needed to launch a new business, founded on consummate skills, premium quality service and dedication to clients’ goals. That new entity, Ground Masters became a reality when Bob's son, Evan, brought his own skills to the joint venture with Bob in 2004.  Bob is now semi-retired but is still involved on a day to day basis with company operations.
