Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Ground Masters is committed to developing relationships of mutual understanding and respect with people of all cultures, especially with the indigenous communities of the areas in which we currently undertake activities.

When carrying out exploration, civil and domestic earthwork operations, Ground Masters seeks to:

  • Recognise the historical and cultural contributions made by people of all cultures, particularly Indigenous people in Australia;

  • Increase awareness of culture and heritage for all members of staff;

  • Strengthen and increase the purpose and quality of its communication with Indigenous communities;

  • Acknowledge and respect the importance of land and the environment to Indigenous Australians;

  • Inform and consult with clients and their associates, prior to any activities (including, for example, mine site excavation, maintenance activities, vegetation clearing etc), to ensure that local Indigenous sensitivities are respected;

  • Consult with appropriate entities to maximise employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians;

  • Provide support for the training, development, and care of Indigenous workers; and

  • Support practical initiatives that provide socio-economic benefits to people of Indigenous or ethnically diverse backgrounds.

This policy provides the framework by which Ground Masters actively manages and encourages diversity and inclusion across our organisation. Ground Masters strives to ensure this by:

  • Implementing and developing a progressive and conscientious approach towards developing cultural and community relations;

  • Supporting the aspirations of individuals to exercise control over their own institutions, ways of life and economic development;

  • Demonstrating our desire to explore and encourage employment opportunities for all cultures; and

  • Developing cultural awareness; and

  • Seeking to ensure that its business practices, systems, and processes do not prevent people from diverse backgrounds having equality of opportunity within the organisation.

Valuing and managing diversity means that Ground Masters will promote and encourage a diverse and inclusive workforce, by fostering an environment of mutual learning, respect, dignity, openness to other cultures and an appreciation of difference and other perspectives.

Attainment of the above outcomes reflects Ground Masters vision of being an active corporate citizen and a respectful advocate of indigenous economic, cultural and heritage issues.

This policy shall be reviewed at regular and planned intervals including a review of its effectiveness.
