Occupational Health & Safety Policy

Ground Masters believes occupational health and safety is an integral part of the company’s philosophies and management systems.

It is the belief of Ground Masters that everyone has the right to return home at the end of their work shift in the same condition in which they started – free from the adverse effects of injury and disease.

As a leading exploration, civil and domestic earthworks provider in the Goldfields, Ground Masters recognises the inherent dangers in our industry and as such, promotes and maintains a safe and healthy working environment for all workers. Ground Masters seeks to achieve this through the implementation of its HSE Management System.

Ground Masters aims to continuously review and improve its HSE Management Systems to ensure it is compliant with International Standard ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), and the Work Health and Safety legislation. To achieve this goal, we shall use a continuous improvement approach via the setting and achieving of measurable targets and objectives through our annual Health and Safety Management Plan.

Ground Masters have set a number of objectives which represents our commitment to health and safety. Ground Masters will ensure that adequate resources are available to meet each of the following objectives:

  • Providing safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health to workers;

  • Communicating and consulting with our employees and sub-contractors openly on health and safety matters;

  • The protection of workers from health and safety hazards which arise out of their work by providing safe workplaces, plant, and systems of work;

  • Meeting our legal requirements regarding health and safety as a minimum, and where possible exceeding those requirements;

  • Recognising our responsibility and accountability for the health and safety of our personnel; and

  • Ensuring the safety of our workers over all other interests and demands.

The Management Team are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the HSE Management Systems to eliminate hazards and control the risks within the work environment. It is an expectation that the Managing Director/General Manager, will ‘lead by example’ and always display exemplary safe behaviours.

Workers are all responsible for ensuring their own health and safety and the safety and health of others, and to comply with instructions given regarding health and safety. It is an expectation that workers will take responsibility for immediately addressing and fixing workplace safety issues (if possible) rather than leaving them for others.

Cooperation and consultation on health and safety amongst all parties in the workplace, is an essential factor to achieving the objectives of this policy. We consider ourselves a team and through respect, trust and understanding, health and safety issues can be easily resolved.

This policy shall be reviewed at regular and planned intervals including a review of its effectiveness.
